A Weird Take on Fear

Halloween is evil and pagan, and therefore we should not be involved in anyway. Actually, I believe a day can be whatever you make it to be. If you make it the Lord's day, then who can stop you?

I personally like zombies, werewolves, and vampires—they are cool monsters. Many of the movies I watch with them do not mention or focus on the demons, which is what I prefer. They make for a good suspense movie where good can overcome the bad. The old Suspense radio show or a good suspenseful film are always enjoyable for me. They can remind us about the fear of God and to submit to Him rather than anything else.

This reminds me of a recent dream of mine. I was looking out my bedroom window, and there was a little snow on the ground but also there were leaves on the trees and green grass. Go figure. Anyway, I looked up and it was somewhat cloudy with what seemed to be a full moon behind the clouds—it was nighttime. (My wife had recently mentioned to me a day or two ago about looking at the moon, and the day before was Halloween.) So all of a sudden, I had the strange feeling there was an animal in the room with me, and I was on my bed, all of a sudden, with a dark, maybe black, wolf-like dog but all I could see was its glowing eyes. And this animal jumped on me, and I felt like I could not move very well, so I was struggling. Then I woke up.

I was admittedly scared in my dream, but I have fond memories of that dream when I reflect on it. Ah, what a lovely dream, but unfortunately I usually get real-to-life dreams that really do scare me—probably ones that should not normally scare. But then again, that is weird, so no worries. And of course, why should we fear when we can give it all to the Lord our God?

So there you have it. My take on fear. I kind of like it, so I guess if you like it, maybe it is not all that scary—instead, I find it suspenseful. The fear of God, however, is not focused on scariness but awe and respect of our Creator and Savior. Now that is something to really enjoy!
